Certainly if you feel renewed, refreshed and even re-born from illness, you want to go out and re-tackle the world! You may feel confident and joyful. Certainly you’re entitled to such elation after battling Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS). However if you’ve been ill even a relatively short period of time, your body may be de-conditioned and a bit out of shape compared to the person you were before you became sick.
Physicians and occupational therapists caution “recovered” patients not to overdo. Build slowly. Be as active as you can be without triggering old symptoms. Control and measure your activity level. Consider upcoming events ahead of time and plan, plan, plan. Whatever you do, don’t overdo.
These are great suggestions even when you’re suffering with CFS. Remember that you only have so much energy. It’s necessary to be really smart about how you use it. You don’t want to “blow out” your energy stores (whatever they are) and find yourself in bed for a day, a week or six months! (That can encourage the return of some very unpleasant symptoms... .)
Whether you’re contemplating changes in your activity level, diet, doctor, prescription drug regimen or adding alternative health care methods to your regimen…
THE KEY TO BEGINNING A RECOVERY PERIOD IS GETTING IN TOUCH WITH YOUR TRUE AND INNER SELF –AND- DOING WHAT SEEMS RIGHT FOR YOU!
The Creator made each of us to be different. I say let us revel in our differences, energies and spirits. May we manifest the lives that we desire.
I wish you many blessings in your healing,
