It’s been said that the human body needs 17 hugs a day to be healthy. Well, I’m not sure that I get my fair share everyday- free hugs or not. But I’m pretty sure that if I walked around with a sign like this that I would, plus I know I’d be healthier and happier. Be sure to smile & hug lots of times today and give some of your love away for free. Random acts of kindness spread like wild fire!

What would you think of wellness tips like "bounce for your health"? Learn this one and more information at Get Well Health with Cinda Crawford.

I run the Health Matters Show blog and podcast and my guest speaker for the Friday show is the famous Dr. Norm Shealy, who will offer us some great wellness tips and information about Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Be sure to drop by.

Now, the good doctor is no teenager by today’s terms, but I would love to copy his style of terminal youth, vigor, vitality and health! His teachings about health and longevity are quite legendary.

See this cute, short video below that he did about how to “Bounce for Health with Dr. Norm Shealy.” You’ll notice his wife and granddaughter in the video, too.

I hope you join me on Friday to hear more of his wisdom about how to heal from Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I promise that he offers some really specialized and helpful information.

Now jump!

If you can and should do it… bouncing for even a few seconds at a time will put a smile on your face & will really work your muscles. If you can’t or should not do bouncing, simply walking for a few minutes several times a day will help. The point I am making is to do something. If you get completely de-conditioned because of total inactivity, it will be that much harder to get your body in shape once you’re ready to heal and re-start your life.

*I think as a kid, I did most of my bouncing by jumping rope. Now that was an aerobic exercise… you better believe it! I’m sure it’s beyond my capability now, but I am getting stronger everyday and gaining more stamina.

Thanks so much, Cinda Crawford

With Lyme Disease rates rising in less densely populated areas, it's wise to know the facts and what the deer tick looks like. Be prepared.

Many states are experiencing rising numbers of people getting sick with Lyme Disease. The state of Virginia is one of them, as reported in the Roanoke Times.

According to Sarah Bruyn Jones, Montgomery county cases alone have jumped 500% since 2007, although the number wasn’t huge then- only 4 in 2007 to 24 in 2008.

Lyme Disease is considered endemic in parts of the country, which are normally the more rural, sparsely populated areas that harbor the deer tick.

That may account for why the more metropolitan area of Roanoke proper isn’t seeing the increase. According to David Gaines, entomologist for the Virginia Department of Health, “It may be that the Roanoke and Salem areas are so heavily developed that there isn’t a lot of room for change.”

I suggest that Mr. Gaines tell that to the people of Bedford, Botetourt, Craig, Franklin, Montgomery counties and beyond. The more rural areas abound with trees and fields. We know that deer like to eat tender grass and the young vegetables this time of year. The danger lurks there for sure and people need to be careful!

That being said, the more populated areas do translate into fewer wooded areas for the culprit of Lyme Disease to proliferate: the black-legged or deer tick, as illustrated in the picture. (Notice the 2 stages of development and how the male and female deer tick differ. Your health could depend on knowing this information and being able to recognize this tick.)

TIP: Be sure that if you’re out in any wooded or less densely populated areas this summer that you check yourself and your children for these creatures. Once bitten, it’s important to get help. If you’ve had the illness for awhile and you’re having trouble regaining your health, you’re welcomed to check out the healing method that I often recommend and use frequently to help Lyme Disease victims. It’s very possible to get better from Lyme Disease without drug intervention.

Thank you so much,

Learn all about how electro-smog can make you feel tired, weak and terribly syptomatic at Get Well Health with Cinda Crawford.

There are many factors and many other causes of fatigue more than a fatigue-related illness like Fibromyalgia, CFS, Lupus, etc. One of these factors can be electro-sensitivity, as evidenced by the live blood analysis work of Magda Havas, Ph.D.

In the following video you will disover how electro sensitive events like sitting at a computer or talking on a cellular phone can reduce your blood circulation and reduce natural waste processing.

In many people, such an event results in fatigue, headaches, lack of concentration, numbness and tingling in the extremeties, cold limbs -and- heart and blood pressure abnormalities.

Does that sound like any of your symptoms? If it does, you should take a look at the following video by Dr. Magda Havas. Then make a conscious choice decision about how and if you want to limit your exposure to this type of electrical/ body interference. Don’t unknowingly suffer from electro-sensitivity again -or- as Dr. Havas calls it, electrosmog.

Since Sunday on the Health Matters Show, I’ve been talking about the wisdom of not allowing the fear of life changes that come your way when you’re sick with a chronic illness, but instead– being hopeful.

Yes, you may face scary changes because of personal health adversities (e.g. like when a big health problem rears its ugly head and threatens to obliterate everything you know about life), but that doesn’t mean you have to run for cover or hide your head. Instead, be hopeful. Be purposeful. Be wise and seek out the good changes that will surely follow if you maintain a positive attitude.

Personally, I find it revealing that sometimes when I’m in the middle of a big “change” event, I can’t see my progress until I get beyond (past) it. If that sounds like you, I encourage you to stand off (figuratively) a ways from what you’re going through. Then look back to observe the journey you have taken. Even if you have only moved a fraction of a degree from where you began, you should still be able to gain an additional perspective. And the further you move away, the more you will be capable of seeing.

That’s an approach I suggest that my students of the Learn How to Heal Yourself Membership Course take their very first month in the program. I encourage them to keep a diary of their experiences while they are there and beginning to learn. From the first day to the last, their “life changes” and their journey can be amazing. Chronic illness does not have to be a life sentence.

Most people find that it’s beneficial to look back on the progress they’ve made and appreciate everything about it. In the process, they learn a lot about who they are, what they’re capable of and how their future can be more hopeful. Once they realize that, they gain an awareness that is totally empowering!

I’m suggesting that maybe that’s how you approach what you’re going through. Maybe the more horrible aspects of being sick will turn out to be useful experiences in the end. Someday, some how. That doesn’t make them any easier to live with in this moment… but at least they will be useful and serve a purpose in the long run.

If you would like some direction and real assistance to help you find real healing in your life, check out and register for the Learn How to Heal Yourself membership program.

Wishing you a hopeful, happy & healthy day, and free of the fear of chronic illness,
Cinda Crawford of the Health Matters Show and founder of Get Well Health

I decided to extend the discount registration period for the Learn How to Heal Yourself membership site through until the end of this week, Saturday night, 5/22, 12 pm EDT.

I’m running into a lot of people who were extremely busy last week or they just felt so horrible because of their chronic illnesses that they just couldn’t get it done. And my heart is sympathetic in both cases. I know how hectic life is, how hard it to manage everything in your life when you don’t feel like doing it. Well, you’re in luck because I can’t turn you away!

If you’ve been following the opening of this membership site, I suspect that you probably have a gut feeling if you should or should not be in this program. (If you want to know more about it, begin here first.)

I find that it generally attracts the people who “really want” to get well and heal no matter what chronic illnesses they have. They simply cannot imagine their whole life lived in such a poor, pitiful and sick condition.

If this is what they do to people, I’ll keep her at home and do my best.

Dr. Camardi’s reply is interesting because he’s part of our healthcare system and a casual observer of what is going on.

HPA axis and immune system responses may be altered in people with Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Learn how to fix this serious health problem.

When your HPA axis (Hypothalamus/ Pituitary/ Adrenal) organ/ glands are damaged in the body and your immune system is showing signs of dysfunction, too, you may be on the verge of getting such terrific illnesses as Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and more. This HPA axis triad of organ/glands are some of the very most important ones in your body. If you are to stay well, they need to function properly. If you’re showing signs of sickness, you may already have some sort of HPA Axis and/or immune system dysfunction.

Then the questions emerge: “What can you do about it?” -and- “How do you get well?”

Figuring out any HPA axis dysfunction is one of the things I do in Sacred Cellular Healing work on a client. By way of muscle testing, I access a client’s energy matrix looking for specific positive or negative responses to questions regarding the HPA Axis and the immune system. Most of the time, it’s easy to detect an abnormal HPA Axis -or- if someone is suffering with a compromised immune system.

The energy/ muscle testing can be conducted in-person or at a distance over the telephone. The work is non-invasive and requires no expensive blood or laboratory tests of any kind.

Both types of dysfunction usually can be improved!

Well… it could be true.
It’s possible.

Scientists are now finding genes that can do a good job of fixing your cell walls.

Edward M. Marcotte is looking for drugs that can kill tumors by stopping blood vessel growth, and he and his colleagues at the University of Texas at Austin recently found some good targets — five human genes that are essential for that growth. Now they’re hunting for drugs that can stop those genes from working.

(I hope you read the whole article referenced above, but then keep reading this post. There’s a lot more to this line of thinking and scientific research than simply stopping or turning off a particular gene characteristic. I believe the true advance will be found when we can turn on the genes and every linked body function to indeed function properly, such as having your cells work as they should and supporting your healthy body! Read on.)

Learn how your high sodium diet (high salt diet) full of manufactured, processed foods could endanger your health at Get Well Health with Cinda Crawford.

On February 18, 2010, Campbell Soup Co. announced that they were lowering the high sodium or salt content in many of their condensed soups by as much as 60% and I’m wondering if that’s because so many people suffer with high blood pressure because of our average high sodium diets.

So why did I think this is good news? Because as of late, my salt intake had been through the roof! Here’s why this may be important to you, too:

1) We human beings consume a lot of salt. Now you may or may not consciously put salt on your food. It’s still easy to consume lots of salt because we commonly buy manufactured food products, which more times than not have a high sodium content. We buy these manufactured products from the grocery store, but also we regularly eat foods that are high in salt at restaurants.

Once salt is ingested, it has to be metabolized by the body, e.g. by organs, tissues, blood, etc. If you overload the body with salt, at the least it will cause you to retain fluid.

2) Just two of the consequences of high salt intake are an increase in the volume of blood in your body and usually high blood pressure.

People with Neurally Mediated Hypotension or even POTS want increased volume so that they can boost their blood pressure, but that’s another issue in reverse.

Lately I found out this lesson about salt intake the hard way after a period of craving Campbell’s condensed tomato soup, crackers and pretzels, all of which are high in salt. Up until now, my blood pressure ran on the low side of normal. Now all of a sudden, I’m waking me up in the middle of the night… blood pounding in my head… a virtual drum beat between my head and the pillow. Oh, the pain!

Then I noticed that my heart was virtually racing. I consciously decided not to fear what was happening. I wondered if I was having a nightmare or panic attack. No, I definitely was not. The pain in my head and my rapidly beating heart simply woke me up from a sound sleep. An odd fact, but an important one.

Well, I’m not happy to say that I went to the doctor (at the insistence of my husband), because what I did was dumb by eating all that salt. I should have been able to recognize and rectify what was happening in my body myself. But deciding to not take chances when my blood pressure went from a normal of 120 to 130 and experience the alarming nature of it suddenly rising to 185… well, it really was prudent to get professional medical advice. (See? I do like doctors.)

So for now I’m on a mild high blood pressure medicine. I’m now eating right and I’m back at the gym doing a regular exercise routine. I’m drinking lots of pure, clean water and eating more fresh fruits and vegetables.

A Fact to Note: I lost 9 1/2 pounds in two days on the new HBP medicine. I must have had a lot of water retention from such a high salt intake. But alas, it came right back. My doctor says that’s normal.

So my advice is to check the labels on everything you eat. Per the American Heart Association, the suggested salt intake for a person with a heart condition is 2000 mg. per day.

That means by eating a whole can of the old version of Campbell’s Tomato Soup, I was consuming 1000 mg of salt at one time! Heaven help me after I added the crackers and/or pretzels, plus the other food I ate the rest of the day. Oh, my. What I was doing to my body and health and didn’t even realize it?!
